A5 as-built documentation
A5 as-built documentation shows what was actually built - not just what was planned. It brings together the B2 control plan, the B3 control report and a description of any deviations into one final document that the structural engineer must approve at handover. Missing A5 documentation, or A5 that doesn't line up with the B3 report, means the building can't be handed over. We prepare your A5 documentation so it lines up with the rest of the case.
What A5 as-built documentation is
A5 is the final part of the structural documentation. Where B2 sets out what needed to be checked, and B3 documents that it was done, A5 shows what actually ended up being built - including any places where reality on site diverged from the original design material.
The A5 documentation is what the structural engineer uses to assess whether the finished building meets the structural assumptions, whether it was built exactly as designed or with adjustments along the way.
How deviations are handled
It's rare for a building to end up exactly as designed - and that's not a problem in itself. It only becomes a problem if the deviation isn't described and assessed in the A5 documentation. We describe each deviation, assess its effect on the structure's load-bearing capacity, and make sure the structural engineer has what's needed to approve it.
When A5 needs to be ready
A5 documentation needs to be in place at handover. Because it builds on both B2 and B3, it's difficult to pull together at the last minute if those two documents haven't been kept current along the way.
How KS Danmark helps
We prepare the A5 documentation based on your B2 plan and B3 report, describe deviations correctly from a technical standpoint, and make sure the whole case holds together when it needs approval at handover.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between B3 and A5?
B3 documents control carried out during construction. A5 is the complete as-built documentation at handover, including deviations.
Is it a problem if the building deviates from the drawings?
Not in itself - but the deviation needs to be described and assessed in the A5 documentation before the structural engineer can approve it.
When does the A5 documentation need to be ready?
By handover of the building at the latest.
Can you prepare A5 if we don't have B2 and B3 fully in order?
Yes, we can review and, if needed, rebuild B2 and B3 so A5 can be prepared correctly.
